The week started with Australia handing out a crushing defeat to New Zealand in the Bowls World Cup. The Australians bowled with balls but their ball handling caused controversy thanks to some over-arm bowling in a sport which traditionally does the under-arm thing. The World Bowls Laws Committee was consulted, but turns out there aren’t rules preventing over-arm bowling. “It might be legal, but it just isn’t cricket” sniffed the miffed NZ Bowls captain. Words like ‘atrocious’ ‘cheats’ ‘disgusting’ ‘cowardice’ ‘unsporting’ are being bandied about, but too bad, so sad, we won!
Now it’s On On to the football.

Two Bottoms described the run – he said it was dangerous and violent because he got hit by Lotsa Fun and had his foot stabbed by Prickly Bush. He probably said something like “Women can’t drive or read maps, so they belong in the kitchen”. The runners headed west and got great views of the city skyline at Rushall station before plunging down to the bike path where we followed the beautiful Merri Creek for a bit, crossed a bridge designed by Flem which still stands, before heading back eastwards to Northcote. We passed a giant panda in a tree and raced through lots of other parks and gardens before finishing back at High Street.
The walkers went up and down, crossed lots of bridges, got lost, were found thanks to GPS. Walk awarded 95/10 especially for the panda.
Charges
- The hare, Sweaty Box was awarded some special chocolate.
- Pointy got a special presentation to commemorate his 901 runs.
- Lotsa Fun charged because she took a pill with some water?
- Love Bra from Sydney because Sydney hash has a circle without a sergeant.
- The run took off past Northcote Town Hall which is festooned with a giant sign saying “Northcotonians are dead set against racism” prompting Big Ears to start mouthing off about Pommy Bastards for which he got a charge.
- All Pommy Bastards got a charge.
- Mother Trucker form Changmai charged for consorting with Udder.
- 2 Bottoms for being mean to Mother Brown.
- 2 Bottoms for being a whinging Pom.
- Deeper for nicking sarongs.
- Sweaty Box for having a new hairdo.
- Story Teller for forgetting meeting with Barbie’s Box.
