HARE: Officially: Lubang Oz; Planned: Egg and Bacon Pie; Actually Cooch as a LIVE HARE
VENUE: Mister Minh Restaurant, Bridge Road Richmond
THEME: Hot August Night
Neil Diamond’s Hot August Night used to be Cooch’s favourite album. So what better way to surprise Cooch at his favourite restaurant for his surprise 60th party Hash Run? Even the location turned out to be hush hush for some of us who wandered up and down Bridge Road in the rain searching for a brightly lit eatery, but walking past a very unassuming facade of what appeared to be a furniture trading enterprise that was closed for the day. Finally noticing a small MISTER MINH sign on the door, we entered the brightly decorated dining room. The table was laden with cakes and drinks, E&B welcomed us and Cut Loose gave everyone Neil Diamond face masks which she’d made that day.
In walked the Birthday Boy, “Surprise!” Despite a couple of accidental slip ups, Cooch really had not found out. We had the drink stop and cake before the Run because the rain had washed away most of the trail E&B had lovingly set that sunny morning. We sang happy birthday and toasted Cooch’s good health.
What about the trail? Cooch set off as a Live Hare, the Pack following after 5 minutes and E&B finally got to put her feet up, entertaining the DNR’s and finishing off the sparkly.
RUN REPORT: By Swingers:
Excellent Run, lots of Checks, and a few on backs when the live hare got cocky, mostly downhill, well marked, lost the trail a couple of times. Cooch managed to stay 5 minutes ahead of the Pack. Well done.
Scored – 60/60
WALK REPORT: By Punch:
The On Out crossed over Bridge Road at the traffic lights and down Coppin Street 50 metres to a laneway where the Runners turned right and ran in the direction of the city. Rigby and I, suspecting the lane was an On Back, just walked to the next corner and turned right, expecting to see the Runners soon. Yep, the Pack burst on to the street calling “looking”. We followed the Runners, zig zagging around the dark back streets. Then walked 6 miles up Bridge Road and 7 miles back down to Mr Minh’s where the DNR’s were partying on to Neil Diamond’s concert on the big screen. We saw 3 of E&B’s faded arrows on the trail.
Scored – 60/60
DID NOT RUN REPORT:
This is the report about the people who sat on their bums, moving tables around, drinking champagne, red wine, white wine and in my case pink wine because it was red and white wine together. Then we bitched about Neil Diamond’s helmet hair and waved our Neil Diamond masks in front of our faces.
Scored-59/60
