Run 1051, 11 August 2004 Hare: Underfelt Venue: Mylyn Restaurant, Kew 1135 Burke Rd

Been asked to jot down a few thoughts this week about Run 1051…aah but…where to begin, where to begin? Apparently Underfelt set a pretty fair run from the Mylyn eating establishment in the heart of fair Kew, chums. Must admit that I didn’t see all of it thanks to the tram which took me on a leisurely hour and 45 minute cruise from Port Melbourne to the venue (via Coburg, Elsternwick and parts unknown). Just gave me nice time for a relaxed walk back around trail onto the drinkstop, though. Have to look after the calves and the ankles these days; the former glorious career as a brilliant junior athlete comes at a cost…The run got the usually paltry score in the circle, but any run that delivers me onto the drinkstop and cocktails in the park after a five minute stroll is a 10 out of  10 in my book!

Nice meal eventually came through; took a while though, and the way Bovine Breeder was tearing into some greenery in a bowl that doubled as entrée had me thinking that he’d torn the flowers out of the planter boxes in the foyer for a while. Then we pushed the chairs and tables aside and The Boomerang called the circle together; must say Boomer’s looking quite butch with the new beard. Deep Throat made a late appearance clad in leather and lace; aah yes, the sensuous feel of leather on skin… Bovine Breeder was brought out for his bovine cousins’ dash for freedom on the freeway. E & B and Cooch were back from Cardiff with tales of Interhash. They were looking very jetlagged indeed. Pointpost was reported as having kept a very low profile at the event; no doubt a distinguished gent like Pointy had many, many more promising offers with which to fill his time; I can only empathize, Pointy.   Back to the venue; and the shenanigans kept coming, with Nickel-B and Tiger Moth charged for cross-toilet visiting. Mothball meanwhile, couldn’t find the Hash bucket (that’s what it says here in the notes, folks). Overheard Punch explaining the worrying form at Melbourne Men’s.  Trouble is, Melbourne Men only let women come once, whereas women want to come all the time. Aah so true, so true, and don’t I know it.

Well the circle closed without a raffle (don’t know why they don’t get such a seasoned casino impresario as my good self to run it) and we all packed it in for the night. Now, let’s see…scored the full eight tips this week and have just stolen up one-out on the leaders at the right time in the season. It was only a matter of time…just like last year folks… only ever a matter of time…
