Run 1056, 15 September 2004 Hare: Mummies Boy Venue: Waterside Hotel, 508 Flinders St Melbourne
In homage to his beloved ‘saints’, Mummies Boy run was set from the Waterfront Pub, on Flinders Street. The significance of this was lost on me, but I’m not sure if Mummies Boy’s lack of faith in his team by hosting this run and not next week’s run (Grand Final run) caused the Saints to lose on Friday night or if it really was the fans running on to the ground after Fraser Gehrig kit his 100th goal for the season. I guess we will never know.
Back to the run, the run was surprisingly good; the pack got lost on the way home after following trial for a good hour. For those with experience in Mummies Boy’s runs, this deserves a mention – usually the pack is in an emergency rescue situation, or at least lost, two minutes after setting out on an MB run. Earlier in the week, the committee accused Smelly (the Religious Adviser) of not pulling his weight but we had to swallow our words, as after a horrible day, the sky stay clear for the entirety of the run.
The run took us past balls of fire, Jeff’s shed, a boat and a really cool looking bridge in a block of horribly deserted apartment blocks. The Shah found it particularly enjoyable and declared Webb’s bridge – his palace – each to their own????
After a meal that could only be described as pretty average (Riewoldt keep kicking goals, ‘cos you can’t cook), the circle got off to a good start. We were joined by an ‘honest to goodness’ peanut gallery at the other end of the bar, which added to the atmosphere and gave GG the night off.
The charges were thick and furious:
? Mummies Boy – for almost setting a good run. ? Kiwi Sausage (Barrbara’s brother) charged Gumboots and Cilitus for something or they charges him for something (Hash Scribe was distracted at this stage and took no notes – apologies!) ? Evelyn – for being Mothball’s friend. ? Sooty – for wearing a wallabies hat. ? Whippet – his sharing spirit ? The Shah – for a virgin run report ? Chico – commemorate his first trip on an escalator ? Tiger moth – eating a steak sanger ? Rigby – Front running walker ? GG – for sending a magpie to attack Mummies Boy ? Nickleby – for always looking for LotsaFun ? Tickler – for defacing the book ? Snow Bitch – for not smiling during her christening (there is a rumour that she doesn’t like her name – good!!! We like that at Hash) ? Mummies boy – again my notes fail me! ? Underfelt – for keeping the books and making the committee work. ? Father – something to do with books Next week’s run : GRAND FINAL RUN
Go the ??????? – who cares!!!!!
(Don’t forget to congratulate the hare on his recent nuptials and to wish E&B a happy Birthday for Monday).
