Run 1233, 14 November 2007 Hare: E&B Pie Venue: Swan St BBQs.

Bless E & B! Last week we were scrambling for a hare and up she pops with a little gem of a run around Alexandra Gardens, Queen Victoria Gardens, The Bowl and Kings Domain. The sights we saw! As Mummies Boy noted, to be able to run around these sacred grasses you have to be under 30, slim and … er biggish where it mattered. To keep our heads down and our minds focused, E & B had devised a list of questions for which she needed answers e.g What year did Queen Vic die What date was the floral clock plaque unveiled What was Weary Dunlop holding in his left hand and some cunning ones – What’s a bit strange about the spelling of Birdwood Ave Which of our hashers is named after John Hope etc. We ran from one landmark to the next, gathering the information and noting it down like excited school children on an excursion to the big city. It was great fun and we returned with a better appreciation of the history of Melbourne -and not forgetting the cute pitite slim youthful streamlined runners that frequent this area in abundance! We also returned to find that our BBQ was broken and E & B hadn’t buddied up to the group using the next door hot plate and Prince’s home-made veg patties were still cold. It took the diplomatic skills of Mummies Boy to break the ice and soon we both groups were mingling which led to some hilarious charges later.
