Run 1239, 19 December 2007 Hare: Sooty & Tangles Venue: Westfield Reserve, Yarra Bend Road, Fairfield.

Soooty and Tangles set 3 trails, a walkers, a short runners and a long runners. And then Sooty handed out maps so everyone could pretty much ignore trail. The credit squeeze has impacted big time  on  chalk and flour cos there wasn’t a lot of it about. Cheesecake and Mothball exited early but Cooch, NickleBy and Klingon did the whole run. Good to see that Cooch  has  extracted  his face from between the massive mammaries of the belly dancer from Sat night where it got stuck for a while.

For yours truly it started out as a beautiful run, slowed to a beautiful jog, became a beautiful walk and ended as a beautiful crawl on home. Boy it was hot. But very pretty along Merri Creek and Yarra. Went past Deep Rock where Alec Wickam , in 1918 , did a world record 6 3    metre dive into the Yarra from the  cliffs on  Richmond side.  Dive was sponsored by John Wren, the colourful racing identity. Run went thru Westgarth, Dights Falls and wandered back past site of old Yarra Bend Asylum and Thomas Embling Psychiatric Hospital.

Mothball was a man under stress. The wife was away for the day and he was multi tasking as grog master and hash cash. He could still express the love that dare not speak its name – “fukking flies” was all he could say, many many times, giving the merest hint of what he’s been up to while she’s away. He shoe-horned beautifully into the hash cash role – “Pay up now – I’m not as patient as my wife” he threatened warmly. TigerMoth, the mistress of demanding money with menaces, has hung people by their feet from tall buildings and performed operations without anaesthetic to get hashers to pay up, so a less “patient” grog master scared us out of our $8. Not Klingon though. He wasn’t scared. He languidly kicked back in his $8-less abandonement, had  a beer, ate dinner and relaxed like there’s no tomorrow. Of course! He’s a humanist/rationalist/secularist/aetheist. There is no tomorrow! A reality check was coming Klingon’s way but, because Ckicko ate the full fat outer casing of the leg of ham which we reckon would have produced a violent up-chuck in the rear of Klingon’s wagon by about the time he was back on Punt Rd.

Speaking of fear, NickleBy has it in spades. The wife is back in Malaysia and he’s batch-ing, so guess what the house looks like! He has between now and next Mon to clean it up and he’s very afraid.

Tangles had to leave early cos his father is unwell, so it was left to Soooty to bear the brunt of the constructive feedback.

Cooch awarded the run 25/39 with bonus marks for the ham and salads. In the absence of Tangles, young Rolf helped Sooty with the salads and ham slicing.

Visitors Sandra from Toorak and DukeBox from Sydney Full Moon Hash.
