Run 1488, 21 Mar 2012 Hare: Colours & Cheese Cake Venue: Victory Park Patterson Rd Bentleigh

Fish and Chip Run

25 hashers turned up in anticipation of a fish and chip gourmet meal. Cheesecake was the hare in charge of the run and Colours was the hare in charge of the F & C. Victory Park was a hive of activity with the locals parading their dogs, playing soccer and athletes warming up for the Olympics (not LH3). The run headed off down Patterson St, looped around a few streets and virtually did a victory lap of Victory Park in site of the On-On. Cheesecake placed a check at the NE corner of the park, but Nickleby was unaware that he was back in the same park he had set off. He started checking in the direction of the on-on, much to the displeasure of Cheesecake who was lurking in the background to ensure that her run was not stuffed up in the first 1km. No problem as the trail was found to lead us out of Victory Park in the direction of the Nepean Highway and Denby Park which must boast at least 10 different sporting fields. The cunning runners headed straight off trail into the park, whereas the true runners followed trail away from the park. The pack found their way back to the park, back onto the Nepean Highway and home. A nice easy run of 5km approx.

Crabbo later delivered the run report – “did think it quite a good run, but I always do my own thing on the run – can’t say much about the real trail’.” As he found a lemon on trail, he awarded the run at 1/2 a box of lemons out of a full box. How ingenious.

The Circle As expected, the fish and chips, plus lemon and salad was delicious. Crabbo was very impressed with the nosh – “the best F & C since the last F & C run.” Gargoyle provided a run report on behalf of the walkers. “We went down the road, around the back of the park, lots of dogs, lots of soccer players and back home.”

Cooch was acting GM in the absence of the appointed GM. Who is the real GM?  Lubang was the Acting Sgt I think. There were lots of new faces on the run, but by the time the circle had started and it was pitch black dark which made it difficult to recognise who was there and who wasn’t.

It was good to hear the Yanks (at least 6) belting out the Yankee down down songs. I do hope we will not be too Americanised and have to remember a different song for every down down. I particularly enjoyed “Mrs Murphy”, “Two pistols on my knee” and “Hot vagina for my lunch.”

Down Downs

Titkaboob and Wax On and Wax Off (one person) – visitors from White House Hash, catching up with Dr Bonar Marika (apologies if her name was Astrid or something similar) – a non-running visitor from the Netherlands Klingon – berating the Carbon Tax Dr Bonar – desecrating Australia’s national emblem by culling a roo on the front of his car bonnet Crabbo and Upper Class tart – migrating back to Cambridge, England for the summer Cheesecake – had asked someone 3 days before her run who was the hare – yes, she was Lubang – not mentioning that Barter Bitch was a visitor – as an ex GM surely she is not regarded as a visitor Nashy – missed out on the F & C while drinking all the red wine Astro and Cut Loose – map of Tasmania hunting on a recent cycle trip Wax and Kaboob – singing a crude and lewd song Marika – coming late (not the Australian way) IGT2, Pointy, Nickleby, Lotsafun and GG – silent in the circle (surely GG had his mouth wired up or was standing too close to Marika)
