Run 1532, 9 January 2013 Hare: 2 Bottoms Venue: 18 Acacia Ave, Box Hill

The second run of the unluckiest year this century set off promptly from Box Hill at 1844. The hare served notice that there were many options at the checks and was true to his word though he neglected to inform us just how many there were (the scribe counted 17 though he may have come across one or two more than once….). We headed through leafy suburban bush and parkland towards Surrey Hills and aided by a few nifty back-checks the pack managed to stay together well for the most part. A brief excursion into Camberwell preceded a beautiful gambol in Wattle Park led by Cooch who contrived to lose us half way through but decently waited for a few front runners to catch up aided (in prince’s case) by short-cutting – bastard! Home followed shortly afterwards and the ~ 8 km was completed in around an hour or in the visiting Ayam Kampong’s case, around an hour and a half (a search party was being assembled as she joined us on the hare’s beautiful new deck with a great view of the Dandenongs (if you were at least 5 ft 10 in). The GM called us to order somewhat belatedly due to the sumptuous food on offer. First she called in the visitors plus all those she hadn’t seen for a while – there were more in the circle and outside. Next came the hares – Two Bottoms and Libido – the run was scored as 74.5 out of 53 i.e. a good run whilst the tucker got 18 out of 20 (chilli not hot enough obviously!) . Charges E&B was called in for her 500th anniversary though it was noted she didn’t look a day over 400 and the GM got stung herself for forgetting all about it. Palindromic runs were noted for Klingon (696) and Astro (393) and Ayam Kampong was called into join them though I can’t remember why. There was then a somewhat delicate charge for 69 (Add On) and Klingon which was interrupted owing to poor child care by Ma Baker. AOB The hare charged Nickelby for being seen out of his shorts for the first time in 6 years (surely they smell a tad by now or perhaps they get washed ‘in situ’). E&B charged baby B oiler for trying to drown the baby (takes a while with a water pistol though). Deeper and heather were charged for being just a little to intimate in the circle though most of us noted it was getting a little cold by then and murmurs of sympathy/jealousy were heard around the circle. Deeper was then called back in to drink from his lovely new footwear and karin joined him for dog rustling. Lubang Oz was charged for ripping off new members (Shoe Shopper and Wet Patch) charging the double – he ought to be…. Ayam kampong noted that Klingon never comes early except when she’s in town – clearly she gets him excited! They were thus both charged for lack of timing. Next week The run will start near Brighton Beach according to Udder Idjit.
