Run 1535, 30 January 2013 Hare: It Wasn’t Me Venue: Ruffey Lake Park BBQ, Doncaster

This was the handiest location I had run from with LH3, being only five minutes down the road from my house on the “Beast” ( a BMW R1200RT for those LH3 motorcycle enthusiasts). The Ruffey park BBQ area provides a great venue with plenty of shade or cover if it rains and seats for tired legs after the run. The only issue with the venue is that there is very little flat ground nearby and the Hare, “It Wasn’t Me” made sure that if there was any flat ground the trail missed it. A Pack of almost thirty hashmen and women started the run, heading east over Victoria Streeet. Immediately after we set off there was a large false trail with no end… we simply ran out of chalk. The trail doubled back through Rieschieks reserve and across a running track where I joined in with the 1500m race before heading out of the reserve and back into the streets of Doncaster East. The trail cleverly dodged backwards and forwards through the back streets. I passed Point Post for the third time. I have no idea how he does it. I try to run as much as I can and he just ambles along and regularly overtakes me. I suspect he sneaks out every week to walk the trail on a Wednesday morning. I also remember passing Trickie Dickie. This was the last reported sighting of Trickie Dickie until about 8.30pm. He returned to join the circle at least thirty minutes after everyone else. There were plenty of hills on the run, given that you start and finish at the same altitude it is hard to understand how the hare plotted a course with lots of uphill legs and apparently no downhill legs. I could only explain this as being some sort of distortion in the space-time continuum somewhere near the intersection between Doncaster Road and Church Road in Doncaster East. Finally we found our way back to Ruffey Park, there was a nice winding trail though the park and down past the Ruffey Park Lake. There was also a very nice view for those of us that had sufficient remaining oxygen in the blood stream to appreciate it. Back at the Barbeques Flem had been cooking up a storm. There were rissoles and sausages with salad and bread rolls… good hash tucker and just what was needed to revive those tired legs. The GM welcomed returning runners Chicken Head, Astro, Cut Loose, General, Prince, Trickie Dickie, Shoe Shopper and Wet Patch. Point Post astonished everyone by remembering all of the names of the returning runners. A lady called Heather awarded the run 18.5 out of 20. I can attest that she did the whole run because every time I saw her she was receding into the distance at a pace not seen since Red Rum won his third Grand National. The Hares, Flem and “It wasn’t me” were congratulated in the usual way by GG. Flem showed us his new burger flipper which if heated to a thousand degrees could have been used to brand the Sergeant. GG awarded down- downs to Lubeoil (169 runs), Lotsafun (474 runs), Cut Loose (88 runs) and Deeper (400 runs) Point Post was given a drink for appearing at various points on the run without actually being spotted breaking into a trot, implying he either short cuts or checks out the run on Wednesday mornings. Charges were also awarded to Punch for locking her car keys in the boot requiring the assistance of the RACV, Trickie Dickie for getting lost in the distorted space time continuum on Doncaster Road. Nickle B, Gringa and Heather were also charged but I wasn’t paying attention, so haven’t the foggiest idea why. Good run, good venue, good food…. Good job GM!!!! On On General
