Hares: Wet patch and Shoe Shopper

Traditionally runs have been marked with flour or chalk, on concrete, kerbing, bike paths, roads, grass – we’ve even run through super markets, trains and Crown Casino. Wet Patch marked his trail on drift wood. The thing about drift wood is that it drifts. About now, over in Werribee South, there’s some poor schmuck out walking his greyhounds, wondering why the hell lots of arrows are washing up along with all the other stuff that gets redirected to Werribee.
Much of the run followed the beach north from the old Beaumaris pub to the Black Rock clock tower. The smartest hashers on the night were Lotsa Fun and Cheesecake. We figured – if you’ve got the beach on the left and Beach Rd on the right, then you’re OK to have a nice gentle jog along the beach path, enjoying the sunset and ignoring the trail and the hare. The serious athletes faithfully followed trail and exhausted themselves by running up and down false trails, up and down unnecessary stairs, in and out through tick infested tea-trees.
As usual, Shoe Shopper provided great food being several varieties of pasta and salads. Shoe Shopper’s golden retriever slept through it all.
The circle was convened. The hares were charged. Blood Sucker and Prickly Bush sang a song. NickelB told a joke.
