Run 1035 Report

Lakeside Hash House Harriers The drinking club with a running problem

Run 1035, 21 April 2004 Hare: Drunken (minus his Assarsin) Venue: Retreat Hotel, Corner of Stafford & Nicholson Streets, Abbotsford

Given the high media attention about recent gangland killings why was there so little interest or concern about the very absent Mr Moran?  Wasn’t he to be the co-hare? Or was it because many of us were wearing our new Kevlar vests (with the nice Lakeside logos – thanks to E&B)?

Concerns aside, a small but happy pack gathered in the backstreets of Abbotsford at the Retreat Hotel (was this indeed the pub the Sullivan’s was filmed in…..?) Meals ordered, first beers consumed we headed off into the dark streets and river side.

Note to hashers – bring torches along – it’s daylight wasting again….!

Drunken had set a cunning trail, aiming deliberately to confuse the Lakesiders by introducing (again) the idea of trail marked on posts. The trail went through some of the backstreets, across the footbridge and down to the boathouse and then into the dark.  Your scribe was following Ryan who happily called “on on” and was chattering away.  That was until he fell over!  Suddenly the enormity of running hash with a bunch of degenerates became too much!  He realised it was dark, and that there were funny noises, and quite frankly – it was scary!

The rest of the pack continued into the darkness and by way of a figure 8 and much of the local suburbs were back in time for grub.  The run was decreed very good, but too long and rated 10/10 for the first 6 kilometres.

Visitors: Ryan, Matthew, Vicki & Sue came back for a second dose, and Chill, AJ and Matt-man were virgins.

Mothball (on 185) and E&B on (1555?) were awarded special runs.

Charges from the floor: * Ryan – asking if everyone else on the train was going to hash too * Mothball – whingeing the whole way around the trail * E&B being late (again!) * Kokup for falling in a (chinese giant gerbil) hole on the first check * Drunken – for quite a few misdemeanours including no drink stop * Barterbitch – for remembering that the run was the Groundhog day run * Lotsafun – for running the WHOLE trail * Alice – for noticing that she was not ‘on’ * Cooch – after complaining about alleys from last week run, not noticing the lovely ‘green run’ set by the hare. * Rolf – for boasting that if anyone needed help with runs they should see her. * Gumboot – being overdressed at hash And of course, anyone else who hadn’t had a drink yet.

on on Giblet.
