Colonel Rambuka eat your heart out. In the absence of the GM it was a quick bloodless coup enacted by 6.35 on behalf of Melbourne Men’s H3 and lasted all of 15 minutes before the natural order of things was restored… but that was later…
Meanwhile Tangles managed to host a dry run around North Melbourne (no rain, no grog) even though it had threatened all afternoon. The RA (not present) obviously has greater powers than predicted. The pack, looking forward to a decent feed in the congenial surroundings of the dining room, found itself shoved off into the public bar for the meals (having bought them at dining room prices). Still the food was good.
Anyway, back to 6.35. He comes to LHS3 three weeks in a row, the first week he came and offered to be GM (when we didn’t have one), the second week he acted as Hon Sec and picked up the mail, and the third week he became the GM… for the circle anyway (even though we do have one)! It seemed appropriate given he was wearing a hat. Lethal was appointed Sergeant. GG gave a wonderful arse-licking report due to the publican’s presence which went something like ‘wonderful venue, great hospitality and we’ll be back’… all of which didn’t relate to the run. However, when pressed he reported on Tangle’s cunning and ingenuity (didn’t know GG knew such big words) but the run being too short. Still it rated two Yellow Hats.
Charges from the run: Brenda – for confusing Tangles and handles Pregnant Pause – for window shopping at the fireworks shop and picking up a catalogue – during the run Punch 49 runs; Gumboot 21 runs; Clitus 22 runs for coming one more time; GG for 269 runs; Rigby 13 runs; Janus – for dehydration Rolf Harris – for forgetting that we had a GM – on paper LotsaFun and NickelB – for having a different number of runs TigerMoth – for being a smartarse and then getting it all right Astro – for being low profile Punch – for being drunk and a few other nebulous charges…
and finally 6.35 was charged with delusions of grandeur, Lakeside committee regained control and got the hashbook back and we all went home.
