Run 1106, 10 Aug 2005 Hare: Cheesecake Venue: Elsternwick Hotel, Brighton Rd, Elwood .

When the stragglers finally got their act together the run set off from the pub into the cold dark night. After a number of lost trails in Elsternwick Park, which left the pack standing around shivering, we finally worked out that on-backs were not always marked. That seemed to set the pattern for the night, where the trail always seemed to be hard to find, execept that when it was found, it left you wondering why it took so long.

Anyway it went on up along the Elwood canal, crossed the famous Mitford Street a few times, then to Poet’s corner. Here, what remainded of the pack disintegrated into dribs and drabs. At least the GM and the visiting GM from Las Vegas followed trail all the way home.

After the dinner, held in the external pavillion, for some reason half the pack thought is was too cold and went home. The hare, aka CheeseBall, was awarded 8½. I think this was out of 11, which just shows how generous Hashers are.

The charges may have been something like as follows

Mudrock and Irish as visiting GMs Lethal and Kyoko as returnees. Karen and Ian for an “it was good for cricket” award. Then Sergeant Clitus took over for a few more. Whippet, Cheesecake and Clitus earned charges Klingon, Cheesecake and Mudrock scored charges and this final group was taken away with Mudrock’s guest rendition of the poplular US down down song, “Here’s to brother/sister/fellow hashers… ” Not to be out done, the circle closed with rousing rendition of “Beer, beer etc.”
