THE JANUS FARWELL RUN.

By the time the crew had gathered, in time for the 1:30 run, we had more runners than on a normal run, so an executive decision was made to make it an official Lakeside Run. Having been dispatched by the hare, we set off through the back swamps of Mt Martha, proceeding via a bigger network of boardwalks than has ever been seen on a Full Moon run. It was here that our hare, duly sweeping the pack along while riding on his bike, fell off it, oops!

We then went down to the nicely contrived creek crossing at the beach, followed by a slog up the coast a bit were we could admire the views. Then down a steep trail to the beach followed immediately by a 200 (?) step climb straight back up again. Except for those that took the chance for a dip in between. Then on home to a udderly sumptuous lunch at palace Idjit.

The first item of business in the circle was a naming. This was someone whao has been a Lakeside associate for soem time although this was his first run. He took to it as if there was a prize for being first to run all the checks and onbacks, depite the midday sun. Hence Denis duly became Mad Dog.

Following that, there was little to do except farewell the departing grogmaster, whose efforts were apreciated by the throng. He was duly dispactched, and presented with a Seychelles survival pack from Udder, who is proof that it is possible to survive it. Janus was given a right of reply, during which he referred to Lakeside as his family, which would have really warmed our hearts had not the sun already been so hot. Anyway, it was enough to get Mad Dog going, who launched into his own incomprehensible tribute to Janus.

The sun, or something, must have affected others, as Deep Throat came forward with an announcement – impending nuptuals between Lethal and Big O. Now wouldn’t you have thought they would have been old enought to know better? There were a few other charges, following which we dispersed. Some went for a dip in Deep Throat’s ex’s pool, which was well worth it.

In all it was a most enjoyable occasion and a fitting tribute to Janus and his loyal and diligent 3 year stint as grogmaster.
