Run 1183, 20 December 2006 Hare: Prince, Dangerous & daughters Venue: Westfield Res, Fairfield, off Heidelberg Rd

A biggish pack turned out on a warmish evening for what turned out to be a longish run. The trail started merrily enough along the Merri Creek, where Cooch‘s local knowledge saved the pack from an early shortcut.

We continued down the Yarra past Dight’s Falls (a prime candidate for a drink stop if ever I saw one), and over the Johnston St Bridge where Mothballs complained of losing touch with Tiger Moth (or was that reality). Up the bank into the woods we scrambled, only to emerge onto the park road in the middle of a cycle race much to the consternation of  the organizers who could see a disaster waiting to happen!

This being the barbie season there were lots of groups of people clustered around the numerous public units in the park, but which barbie  was ours? A few more bends of the Yarra, a few more tempting sausagey  smells and one more bridge, and there we were – bedecked in tinsel,  and with a spectacular silver Christmas tree brought along by GG on the  train much to the amusement of the home-bound commuters! The daughters Dangerous were playing Christmas airs on their violins, and the hares  were serving Champagne and orange juice and pulling crackers – and  this was just the drink stop!

Back along the park road pausing only to find Cheesecake looking for aboriginal relatives, we arrived at base camp and another even more Christmassy scene. Egg ‘n’ Bacon Pie (who hadn’t even been on the  run) was meticulously laying out napkins and plates, and food there was in abundance. The only problem as far as your temporary Hash Scribe was  concerned, was that by the time he was ready to eat there were no forks and knives left to eat with, and nowhere to sit. Crackers were pulled and FUN was had with sparklers.

The hares Prince, Dangerous (and daughters) were suitably rewarded for their efforts, but DumBastard, the mean bastard awarded them only 17/28 for the run, though Lethal thought the drink stop was worth 15/16. Visitor Boxie from Brisbane who’ll be in Melbourne for a  while, and returnee DumBastard were next in the circle, followed by Mothballs on 299 runs. The Sergeant’s sinners from Saturday’s  Chrissie party were-

* Cheesecake, E & B, and Tiger Moth – for cleavage  comparison (what about RolfHarris?) * GG, and later Klingon for various kinds of memory failure. * Prince for not letting his lovely Princess come on the run.  ‘This is my time’ he said.

Charges from the floor included UCT & Dangerous for clothing offenses, GG for busting the breathalyzer before the Dinner,  Colours  and TigerMoth for missing the drink stop, and Cooch for  training for  the Hash. Finally GG conducted a naming ceremony for Mia (Maestro)  and Lexie (Little Digger).
