Run 1159, 12 July 2006 Hare: Cheesecake Venue: McKinnon Hotel corner of McKinnon and Jasper Roads, Hampton

In a cold night few runners came out of their comfort zone and travelled to McKinnon, a suburb famous for its running and cycling tracks and offcourse smoky and dirty pub. We arrived to find Cheesecake surrounded by clouds of smoke and runners in unfamiliar territory. Hashers were slightly interrupted locals crazy betting and smoking but we couldn’t stop the curios look of our pub compatriots. Prince asked every hasher to set a run before the small group of 12 started their journey after Cheesecake introduction to the run. Mat Dog and GG sprinted out early and joined the running pack after visiting too many schools, play grounds, running courts and cycling tracks. Tiger Moth meanwhile, was in her best formal dress and stayed behind in the pub to try her chance with the local.

The run was well marked and had plenty of on backs and check points. It indeed kept the pack together but Cheesecake could wait till Victoria implements the smoke free pubs before setting the run from McKinnon Hotel. I met super crazy betters who were betting on the horses in South Africa. I would call it blind betting which let you down %99.9.  At almost end of the run we bumped to Cheesecake who directed us to Mat Dog’s house where we had gin and lemonade in his door step. We then sprinted to home to get our fish and chips and parmas.  Shah (88), E&B (225) and GG (667) had significant runs while Cheesecake set new arrows for Lakeside containing a star and the moon. This run was the first Cheesecake’s run as sole GM and Chicko celebrates this occasion by pissing on every tree during the run. Udder, in the eve of the world cup, had a quiet night but Lotsa Fun had a fun run.  Cooch was the target of speculation for speaking Italian after the incident in the World Cup final involving the Italian defender and Chris took the charge on Tigermoth’s behalf for speaking French. E&B took out the paper covering Cheesecake recent photo in bikini and Udder accused Cheesecake for including GST in the subs this year.

Klingon went back to 2001 when Lakeside ran from the same pub in Sep 12’th and charged Udder, Pointy and GG who were present in that run. Chris reminded flew hashers of flogging behaviour of E&B in the fourth of July run to sell T-shirts while she were charged last week and Tigermoth got few propositions while she was alone in the pub looking after runners’ stuff.

Udder gave his report of the fairest team, Trinidad and Tobago, and naughtiest team, Paraguay and charged Mothball and Tigermoth for representing the two countries. It appeared that the position of commissioner of Taxation in Schicells is vacant in Udder’s absence and Mat Dog was curious to bring Chicko in the pub in the cold Wednesday night.

Finally, with Klingon’s effort, we got our wrist bands which were promised in the AGM and Prince showed few inconsistencies in finding the checks, specially as we came out of the pub. Whippet and Chris took the last low profiles to complete the round of down downs for everybody present in the run.
