Run 1162, 02 August 2006 Hare: IBM & Swallower Venue: 7 Nelson St Sandringham

Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear! Tsk Tsk. One of the first things I was told when I started running hash as a teenager about 10 years ago, was that the hare should never, ever lose more than 10% of the pack. (I wondered at the time – why the initial 10% tolerance?). Now, Tangles is no Elle McPherson and on his own makes up about 12.5% of any pack. And there’s lovely Punch who has returned to us briefly. IBM managed to lose both. To butcher the words of Princess Margaret when discussing servants and Lord Lucan dispatching one of his to heaven before bolting, to lose one hasher is understandable, to lose two is seriously careless. What must have been more terrifying for Punch – being lost in the dark, deep in the Sandringham bush, or being lost in the dark, deep in the Sandringham bush with Tangles? A one gerbil search party was launched and thankfully ( ? ) they were found.

Prior to “the great losing”, the pack set off through the streets of Sandy until we got to the Royal Avenue natural bush regeneration area which we explored in some detail thanks to NickleB taking us around it in decreasing concentric circles – he obviously liked that bit of trail and thought we should follow it early and often. Swallower gaily informed us that the bush was full of ‘dens’ employed by lone gentlemen late at night wearing black (stylishly).

The rest of us got back OK for another delicious Swallower dinner. Occasionally we’d think about ‘the missing’, but mostly we just tucked in.

PS. Dear Tangles, if this report contains any comments about your person or behaviour that would cause you upset or distress, the comments are unreservedly withdrawn and the GM wishes it known that she is extremely solicitous of your feelings for the duration of your employment with Cadburys Chocolate.

We called the circle and Lotsa Fun and NickleB described the run with Pointy awarding it 33/36 points. Returnees were welcomed: IBM, Swallower, Kok up , Punch, Sooty, Tangles, Gerbils.

Hares charged for run and great food.

Special runs were Kokup = 64 Chinese Lotus = 2 Chicko = 170 Sooty = 115 GG = 678 Udder = Something between 200 and 1,000,000 (he’s an accountant)

Charges were:

Gerbils for protecting the cubby house from Chicko. Goliath for falling off his bike and hurting the Swan St tram tracks. Lotsa Fun and Chinese Lotus for talking in ‘Malaysian’. IBM for losing some of the best hashers ever. Kokup or Punch? For Kokup not noticing that Punch was missing. E&B for losing her pants and waist elastic (IBM not involved). Swallower for the lemon cake multiplying to 5 times it’s intended size. Punch charged by Tangles for asking the Sandy Strangler for directions while lost in the bush. (Other charges lost in the excitement)

Sooty drew the raffle and Udder won some lovely Lakeside pillow covers.

On On until next Wed with Kokup at the Fiddler Pub, 577 Little Collins St Melb.
