Run 1200, 14 April 2007 Hares: Klingon and Nickle B Venue: Baldrys Crossing, Point Nepean National Park

Klingon and Nickle B were out early setting a tricky run/walk thru the bush at Baldry’s Crossing, Melway reference 254 G6 – that’s 254 G6, Highly Infectious. The run set off at 3.33pm. when the Moths arrived having diverted along the Boneo road to Cape Schanck. The moral of the story is that they should have read E&B’s flyer which had the correct Melway reference.

It was a beautiful bush run with open bits, forest bits and gully bits covering about 8.5 kilometers. Gerbils, Pauline and Stuart were our unofficial hash flashers for the weekend.

The Religious Advisor Lotsa tried hard to make it rain, but only produced a few drips.

Lotsa spotted lots of kangaroos. She was keen to avoid them and they were keen to avoid us. As usual, Pointy managed to be ahead of the pack with minimal effort.

Charges:

-Visitors: Libido, Isobel Bottoms, Stephanie Bottoms, and Tumbleweed, Black Tulip and Empty from Royal Peninsula Hash plus Highly Infectious from Western Suburbs. -Significant runs: Mothball 313, Mad Dog 3, E&B 253, Cooch 273 -The hares, Klingon and Nickle B for setting a great run. -Quasi for giving Chicko some coke (the drink) and Mad Dog for feeding Chicko dog chilli corn balls. -TigerMoth and Mothball for stopping off at Boneo for a bit of pre-run nookie and still only being 3 minutes late for the start. -HIF for not turning up for the run until it was over. -HIF tried to charge Klingon for getting the Melway reference wrong but it was a rebound. -Empty and Mad Dog for getting lost. -Nickle B for being the official sweeper and doing it from the front of the pack.

The Naming

We had pre dinner drinks and decided it was time for a naming.

It’s taken a while for Stuart and Pauline to do anything silly enough to get them named, but the 1200th weekend was the time. Pauline is now called “It wasn’t me” or IWM due to her general failure to take responsibility for anything especially anything done by Stuart.

Stuart is now called Flem. E&B has had something on her chest for a while and was regaling Stuart with descriptions of her phlegm. Turns out he knows all about it, from the clearest crystal, to golden yellow, through to the deepest mustard up to and including the murkiest olive green – if you want to know if you have a viral infection, just show Stuart your phlegm.

Thereafter it was off to the Flinders Hotel for our 1200th dinner.

The Bike Ride

We assembled at the Merricks General Store for the start of the 10am. bike ride. This time it was Whippett, Gerbils, E&B andCooch who had truly orgasmic nookie because they were 15 minutes late. Udder and Gargoyle turned up an hour early so who knows what that says about their love life.

The Moths, who sussed out the route and the wineries last week, led us on a great ride on an old rail trail festooned with lots of horse poo and surrounded by terrific views. There were a few small hills but generally easy going. When we got to Red Hill, Gerbils went looking for magic mushrooms before we took to the bitumen for a winery crawl. First stop was Red Hill brewery which isn’t a winery, but no-one complained. We visited a couple of wineries, had lunch, visited a couple more wineries and went home. Some of us gulped the tasings, some swirled them professionally, took a dainty taste and chucked the rest, while IWM tasted and took notes.

Young Stephanie and Isobel must have been energised by the chocolates they won at dinner because they finished their first ever 18 kilometre ride.

Thanks to everyone who worked hard to make it a great weekend for hash.
